Hello and welcome!

We're glad you're here! Woods Cycling Club is a community of passionate cyclists of all ages and experience levels who love to ride, explore, and support each other both on and off the bike. Whether you're just getting started or you've been riding for years, you'll find a friendly group ready to share the road, gravel and the joy of cycling.

​

In addition to our weekly rides, Woods members regularly take part in local and out-of-county sportives, charity rides, and a few organised century rides throughout the year. These events are a great way to challenge yourself, ride in new places, and represent the club.

​

Come join us for a ride! You’re welcome to try a few rides before becoming a member, and we’re always happy to answer any questions or help you find the right pace group.​

CLUB RIDES

We get together every Sunday at either 8:30 AM or 9:00 AM (depending on the time of year or the route) at the shop for our group ride— and everyone’s welcome! Whether you’re just starting out or have been riding for years, you’ll find a great group here. Our rides cover both road and gravel routes, with different pace groups so you can pick what suits your experience and fitness level best. No matter where we ride, our focus is always on having fun, staying safe, and, of course, making time for café stops!

To make sure everyone enjoys the ride, picking the right group is key. If you’re unsure which one to join, just have a quick chat with one of our friendly ride leaders, they’re always happy to help you find the perfect fit.

​

We also follow a strict non-drop policy, which means no one gets left behind. We’re all about riding together and supporting each other, especially on the tougher bits. That said, it’s still important to pick a group that feels right for your pace and fitness. Riding way outside your comfort zone can make things tougher than they need to be.

​

If you’re new to group rides or not sure about the distance, speed, or hills, we recommend starting with the C Ride. It’s a relaxed, supportive bunch, and once you’re feeling good, you can always step up to a faster group the next week!

 

​MEMBERSHIP

Thinking about joining Woods Cycling Club? We’d love for you to come out and ride with us! Feel free to join a couple of rides to see if it’s the right fit.

​

After your second ride, membership is required. It’s just £15 a year, and when you’re ready, simply click JOIN US to visit our British Cycling Club page and sign up or renew.

​

Members enjoy 10% off all purchases in our shop and get exclusive access to member-only monthly offers directly from our suppliers.

​

If you race with British Cycling, you can also unlock our Woods Race Package, just represent the club on race days and join us for social rides throughout the season. (We do ask that Woods CC is shown as your primary club)

​CLUB RIDE RULES & ETIQUETTE

​We have a strict non-drop policy, no rider gets left behind. We ride together and support each other.

​

Wearing a helmet is mandatory for your safety.

​

Follow the ride leader’s instructions to keep things smooth and safe.

​

Communicate clearly with hand signals and verbal calls to warn of hazards, stops, or changes in pace.

​

Always follow the Highway Code and obey local traffic laws.

​

Be courteous to other road users — motorists, pedestrians, and fellow cyclists alike.

​

Avoid distractions like headphones or mobile phones so you stay alert.

​

Ride predictably, signalling before turning or changing position.

​

In narrow or busy areas, ride single file rather than two abreast.

​

Make sure your bike is in good working order before joining the ride.

​

And most importantly, be supportive and friendly, encourage fellow riders and help new members feel welcome.​
